Spring in Tuscany: all the activities to do

Date

After a cold and rainy winter, spring is now here and the desire to get out of the house to spend days discovering the natural and cultural beauties of Tuscany is back. Here are lots of ideas on how to spend time between villages, festivals, the countryside and the sea.

VISIT TO THE VILLAGE OF PECCIOLI (BORGO DEI BORGHI 2024 WINNER)

Easter evening, last March 31, decreed the winner of the 2024 edition of the Borgo dei borghi. Winning the competition this year was Peccioli, a small but charming Tuscan village in the province of Pisa.

Here is what to see in Peccioli:

  • the Giants of Peccioli, polyurethane foam sculptures that “embrace” the town’s landfill, which handles 300,000 tons of waste a year from several Tuscan capitals. The huge busts rise from the waste that the hamlet uses to generate energy;
  • the Catwalk, a 30-meter-long bridge wrapped in a huge colorful ribbon by artist Patrick Tuttofuoco;
  • the “Happiness is a Street” installation on Borgherucci Street: artist Vittorio Corsini created this work that focuses on the eyes of the village’s residents;
  • the Suspended Terrace at the Timeless Palace, from which to admire the beautiful surrounding panorama;
  • the Pieve di San Verano in Piazza del Popolo, with works by painter Jacopo Vignali.

TASTING WINES AT A PRESTIGIOUS ESTATE

Tasting a good glass of wine in a winery as the sun sets over the Tuscan countryside is a fascinating experience.

From Chianti to Maremma, Tuscany is home to renowned wineries where you can enjoy sensory experiences among architecture, art and traditional flavors.

We at Punto Casa suggest a visit to Tenuta La Macchia. An estate of small winemakers on the Tuscan Coast, it is located near Montescudaio (PI).You can choose from several tastings or possibly book a lunch or dinner in the vineyard.

Write us or drop by our agency to receive a 5% coupon to be used for a tasting at the Estate.

DRIVING ALONG THE TUSCAN COAST TO ADMIRE THE SEA

Have you seen Dino Risi’s Il sorpasso? In the famous film Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant speed by in a Lancia Aurelia along the beautiful scenic road by the sea leading from Civitavecchia and Castiglioncello, lined with red and white oleanders.

Retrace that mythical road up the Tuscan coast, by car or motorcycle, to enjoy the beginning of the beautiful season.

Departing from Castiglione della Pescaia, we continue along the coast to Piombino, skirting the ancient salt marshes with the ruins of the Salt Tower, then passing the gulf of Baratti. It continues to Montescudaio, from which to admire Capraia, Gorgona and Elba Island.
